ASHLAND SPORTING ASSOCIATION
The Ashland Sporting Association, a 501©(3) nonprofit incorporated in 2013 and registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,Lots of running history occurred on the streets of Ashland. The Ashland Sporting Association is working towards developing a Marathon Hall of Fame in Ashland, MA on Pleasant Street at Marathon Park, the original starting line of the Boston Marathon in 1897 through 1923.

Ashland Sporting Association collaborates with other community non-profits to help raise money for their specific causes.  Each year a portion of all races’ proceeds go towards making improvements to Ashland’s Marathon Park, and the development of a museum within the VFW dedicated to “The Ashland Running Era”.

Race Director 

Michael McGrane joins the Ashland Sporting Association as the new Race Director for the 2017 Ashland Half Marathon and 5 Mile races. Michael lives in Ashland and is an accomplished distance runner having qualified and finished the Boston Marathon every year since 2001. As the new Race Director, Michael hopes to bring his expertise in the running industry to support the Ashland Sporting Association community races year round.
